The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
